John griffiths -
I was born in Tanzania and worked for the 16 years prior to MotoAventures in the oil-related diving business. I have hyperbaric medical training and experience from my years working offshore, as well as the Wilderness Medical Certificate, and safety (a highly important issue in biking – one which is often not given sufficient attention) is something I pay particular attention to.
Being responsible for route finding and checking for our various different adventures, and plotting the routes for the GPSs that we have installed on all our bikes on our tours, I get to wander around discovering hidden, lesser known parts of this beautiful country. I am the “gaffer” on all our off-road tours, mainly riding my bike within the group, with Martine following closely giving 4×4 support accompanied by Hussein.
I have a reasonable smattering of various languages. Early 90s I rode solo from London to Cape Town over two years and apparently, I’m a very experienced off-road rider 😉
I have lived and worked in Andorra for over 30 years. I speak English, Spanish, Catalan and French fluently and have considerable experience in tourism and PR, as well as having run my own estate agency and building company in Andorra before starting up MotoAventures with John.
I am responsible for the admin and legal side of our companies, our website and social media, finding exciting new tour accommodations, and generally making sure that all aspects of the tours run smoothly and efficiently from the moment you book to your return home.
I drive an assistance vehicle on some off-road tours, and from 2021 will be organizing all the logistics for our latest BMW Dual Sport motorcycle tours. I will drive the support 4×4 with Rob as motorcycle guide. I also have my Wilderness Medical Certificate.
The rest of our team in Morocco
Being brought up on a charter sailing ship in the Netherlands, means tourism, hospitality and adventure are all in her bones. After working as hospitality manager, camp manager and lodge manager in several African countries she started working for MotoAventures in 2020. With her offshore Medical First Aid and Medical Care certificate she is good to go!
She is responsible for driving the assistance vehicle on most off-road tours, for the ‘on ground’ smooth running of the off-road tours and the well-being of our guests. Also, as a Graphic Designer, alongside Su, she likes to keep herself busy helping with the public image of MotoAventures.
She has also added Dutch and German to our team’s languages.
Rob has been riding since the age of sixteen and followed a career path into Graphic design and Art Direction, with a bias for photography.
He was poached from his London base to work for a South African publishing company in Cape Town in the late 90s. His love of exploration and travel found a vast new home in Africa and, mainly by motorcycle, has solo travelled this continent extensively and since 2012 has been leading tours throughout Southern Africa.
He has during this time also added the role of security officer to his professional skill set, holds security clearances for both the UK and RSA, and has his medical certificate.
He, in tandem with Su, will be running MotoAventures’ BMW Dual Sport adventure tours as motorcycle guide.
Hussein and Maryam
Both are from Ouarzazate and have been working with us for many years and are part of our family.
Hussein is our chief mechanic and knows the full history of all our KTMs and accompanies all the off-road tours they are used on to keep them in good order, while helping the clients when necessary.
Maryam is our secretary/PA helping with the local company business, reserving the accommodation, and arranging the ground logistics before our tours. She also helps clients with any problems they might have.
They both speak Arab, Berbere, French and English.
